Hey all!
Thought I'd share my journey entry from Friday night's LG (with a few minor additions) =) For the members who shared on Friday night, it'll be great if you could post up your journal entries too! This is a safe environment to share and let's all be part of the journey together in growing in our relationship with our God...and it all starts with the reflection of His word. If I can do it, you can all do it better =)
Scripture
1 King 6:12-13 "As for this temple you are building, if you follow my decrees, carry out my regulations and keep all my commands and obey them, I will fulfill through you the promise I give to David your father. And I will live among the Israelites and will not abandon my people Israel."
Observation
What is my temple? Is it my church? Is it my career? Is it the life group? Whatever my temple may be, God clearly states that I need to obey Him (His commandments, His law) and honor Him in whatever He has put in my hands to do. As I am no longer governed under the law of the old testament but under the covering of God's grace through Christ, the obedience must be driven by an attitude of thankfulness, humility and joy rather than out of duty. In return, He promises His faithfulness that He will live with me and with those in my sphere of influence!
Application
No matter where I am, what I'm doing, whether an employee, being a son, being a brother, being an uncle, being a life group leader, nothing really matters more to God than my obedience to His ways revealed through His word; an obedience not out of duty but out of gratitude, humility and joy for following His commandments. I want to reflect on His word more so I may live a life that pleases Him.
Prayer
Lord I thank you for your word! May this word be a constant reminder of Your will no matter where I am. Guide me to follow your ways so my life may be a pleasing worship to you. Thank you for the promise that you will live with me and dwell with those around me in return for obedience of Your will!
