Title : GLADNESS & SIMPLICITY OF HEART
Readings: Neh 9,10 , Acts 2
Scripture: Acts 2 v 45-47
Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with gladness and simplicity of hearts, praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people.
Observation:
The passage above depicts the fellowship of the believers subsequent to the holy spirit coming at Pentecost. After the "upper room" experience, Jesus's apostle were all fired up.They addressed the crowds and started preaching the good news to all. Many were added to the kingdom of God. Those who came to the lord i.e the like-minded, sold all their possessions and gave to the needy. They did life together with humble and willing hearts. There were no grudges or comparison in them.
This indeed is the fruit of the holy spirit.
Application:
The verse above struck me today. Mainly on the phrase : Gladness & simplicity of heart. This I believe is the most precious thing one can offer to anyone. Gladness & simplicity of heart. To eat with gladness and simplicity of heart; to work with gladness and simplicity of heart; to love with gladness and simplicity of heart, to serve with gladness and simplicity of heart, to worship with gladness and simplicity of heart, to grow old with gladness and simplicity of heart,....
Today, I'm convinced that ALL God wants from me is NOT to do things for him, orto give him a tenth of my first fruits, nor neither to lead his people; BUT he simply wants me to love , worship and obey him with gladness and simplicity of my heart. In everything that I do or hope to do or want to do-it should be with GLADNESS & SIMPLICITY of my heart. And of course with a simple faith as well.
Prayer:
Thank you Jesus for your simple yet powerful verse today. Today's reading really jump at me- to simply love you with gladness & simplicity of heart...in my own ways and be a simple girl whom you have always asked and wanted me to be- A girl with a simple faith and a gentle and quiet spirit. Thank you Jesus for making my heart glad. In your name , I pray these things.AMEN
