Sharing My Devotion: To serve with Your strength
Scripture: 1 Peter 4
10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 11 If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.
Observation:
Here, Peter has asked us to use the specific gifts we have to serve others. If we speak, we should speak words of God. When we serve others, we should use God's strength, not our own strength. Furthermore, this allows us to give all credit to Jesus. We should always work to glorify Him.
Application:
Sometimes I look at others who have "more" giftings than I do. I start to doubt how little I am able to contribute. However, God merely asks us to use the gifts we have to serve others. God has given us SPECIFIC gifts. Also, there is nothing for the "talented" people to boast about because all glories go to the Lord. Without God, we are nothing. Let me remember to always glorify GOD when we serve others. We serve by the strength from God. Let me be satisfied by the gifts that I have. I must search for those giftings to apply it. Perhaps one of my gifts is medical knowledge - which I can use to serve God's people. Perhaps it is compassion. Perhaps organisation and administration. I am not sure how I can use those skills at this point in time but I will just keep them in mind and be prepared before opportunites find me.
Prayer:
Lord I thank you for the gifts that you have given me. I ask that you show me what they are and how to use them best. I know that I do not need to rely on my own strength. Thank you for removing the "pressure" from me. Please continue to give me that confidence and strength in all we do. Let me remember to be humbled and give all glory to you when I serve.
In Your precious name, Amen
